Hello.

Last Friday, I was invited by Centara Grand at CentralWorld to try their international dinner buffet at Ginger Restaurant, located on the 24th floor of the hotel. This month, the restaurant has just launched "Seafood Market", a new theme specifically for Ginger (as of May 1st, The World and Ginger restaurants will no longer be able to cross-serve food).

This event features a wide variety of fresh seafood for you to choose from, including river prawns, tiger prawns, mantis shrimp, giant squid, soft-shell crab, various types of shellfish, and various fish. And what's even more special is that every Friday and Saturday at 8:00 PM, there will be a show where they will slice fresh tuna flown in directly from the Maldives for everyone to watch and try.

Enough introduction, let's get started.

Let's start with the first zone, sushi and various raw fish.

Here, they won't let you serve yourself. You have to tell the chef what you want and they will serve it for you. You can ask for as much as you want or for specific parts.

"I'd like the belly part of the salmon, please," she told the chef.

Seafood on ice and BBQ

The steak menu offers a variety of options, including sea bass, salmon, shrimp, chicken, pork, and duck (no beef available).

This section will feature fresh seafood, with a wide variety to choose from, including river prawns, tiger prawns, mantis shrimp, giant squid, soft-shell crab, grouper, salmon, sea bass, and various shellfish.

You can choose what to do with it, such as grilling with salt, steaming with soy sauce, steaming with lemon, steaming with plum, stir-frying with black pepper, stir-frying with salt and chili, sweet and sour, stir-frying with curry paste, stir-frying with XO sauce, etc.

Chinese food also includes dim sum, noodles, char siu, crispy pork, and roast duck.

Various vegetables can be stir-fried with different sauces, such as oyster sauce, butter, and garlic.

And now, for a special show today, a live tuna dissection by our chef for everyone to enjoy.

To end this meal with fruits and desserts

Comments for this meal

The food selection here is very diverse, ranging from savory dishes to desserts and various Thai sweets. Notably, the seafood section stands out compared to other hotels due to the wide variety of cooking styles available. The taste and freshness are quite good. As for the sushi, the regular raw fish was average (except for the last plate where I specifically requested salmon belly, which was excellent). The desserts were decent, with my favorite being the fresh coconut ice cream (which I enjoyed with caramelized bananas). Overall, everything was good except for the duck and roast pork, which were a bit dry.

Summary

This was a truly memorable meal. I had previously dined here when it was still possible to walk between the two rooms while carrying your plate of food, and I was not impressed (imagine people walking past the elevator and lobby with plates of food in their hands). Now, The World and Ginger are clearly separated, with a full range of food options available in each room and a truly vast selection (seriously, it's huge). The downside is that drinks are not included, except for beer lovers, who can get unlimited refills for just one baht. In terms of price, the full buffet price is quite high at 1,899++ (around 2,235 baht net), but if you use a credit card promotion, it drops to around 1,118 baht per person, which is much more appealing.
