Greetings everyone, today I, "ภรรยาหา สามีใช้", will take you to discover a restaurant that stands out for the quality of its ingredients. This restaurant is called "Veggie Mill".

The restaurant is a single-story blue building with a large, eye-catching windmill. Next to the restaurant is another restaurant called "Milky Mill," which I believe is owned by the same family because the names are so similar. You can order food from either restaurant, but you have to pay separately.

Finding Veggie Mill is a breeze! Simply search for it on Google Maps and follow the directions. You're guaranteed to arrive without getting lost. If Google Maps isn't your thing, check out the map below and head straight to Soi Suan Phak 32. This soi has multiple access points, making it super convenient.

Note: Thanks to the Facebook map provided by the store.

Upon arrival, customers can conveniently park their vehicles in the designated parking areas. The front of the restaurant offers parking for approximately 5-6 cars, while the back provides additional space for around 20 vehicles. With ample parking options, customers need not worry about finding a spot. The restaurant's modest size, accommodating roughly 20 tables, contributes to the ease of parking. The seating arrangement is divided into three primary zones:

Zone 1: The main building of the shop with a large windmill (Open air)

Zone 2: Outdoor Seating with Shade

This zone is located outdoors and features small umbrellas for shade. It is situated near the playground and only has 2-3 tables available. This zone is ideal for evenings when the sun is not as strong.

Zone 3: Air-conditioned glass room building. Those who choose to sit in this zone must pay an additional 10 baht per person.

I chose to sit in the second zone because the first zone was full. Considering the atmosphere, sitting in the second zone seemed like a better option, especially since it was the evening. Additionally, I didn't want to pay extra to sit in the air-conditioned room.

The restaurant's operating hours are from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM (closed every Friday). The details of the day I visited are as follows:

Saturday, October 1, 2016

5:30 PM - 7:00 PM

Two people.

Alright, now that I'm settled at my table, it's time to explore the menu. The savory food menu has two pages, featuring steaks, rice dishes, spaghetti, snacks, salads, and soups. The beverage menu offers fresh fruit and vegetable smoothies, as well as various teas, coffees, and hot and cold drinks.

The Organic Advantage: Farm-to-Table Freshness

The restaurant's menu boasts a commitment to high-quality ingredients, specifically highlighting their fresh, hygienically-grown vegetables. This dedication extends beyond mere words, as the establishment operates its own organic farm. This farm serves as a vital source of produce, providing the foundation for many of the restaurant's signature dishes.

The table where I am sitting offers a clear view of the vegetable garden. Guests are welcome to stroll through the garden and take photos.

And now that we know the highlights of the restaurant, one of the dishes we shouldn't miss is the "salad." Here's what my wife and I ordered:

  • Pork chop: 149 baht
  • Mixed vegetable salad (with added bacon topping): 104 baht
  • New Orleans chicken wings: 69 baht
  • Veggie Mix smoothie: 40 baht
  • Water and ice: 12 baht

For those interested in the organic vegetables grown by the shop, who would like to buy them to cook at home, the shop also sells them.

After placing my order, the food arrived promptly. However, my experience with the service was mixed. Some staff members were very friendly and attentive, while others lacked service-mindedness. One staff member, who I believe was the owner, was particularly welcoming and helpful. However, other staff members appeared sullen and provided slow service. Additionally, our table received incorrect orders twice. The second time, the staff claimed it was because we had moved tables, which was not the case. We remained at the same table throughout our meal.

Let's take a look at the overall appearance of the food before we delve into the specifics.

In my personal opinion, the presentation of each dish was excellent, making them very appealing. Now, let's move on to the taste of each item.

The pork chop was served on a large plate. The meat was a decent size, about a foot long. However, after cutting it up, I felt that there wasn't much meat and it wasn't very filling.

The pork was tender and flavorful, although slightly sweet. The fresh vegetables were delicious, and the beetroot salad dressing was unique with a slightly sour taste. Overall, the dish was good value for money.

The second dish was a mixed vegetable salad with added bacon. The salad was served in a beautiful wooden bowl. There were two types of salad dressing: a Japanese sesame dressing that was creamy and delicious, and a carrot dressing that was slightly sour and spicy.

The quality of the vegetables is excellent, as they are grown fresh behind the restaurant. The salad dressings are each unique and flavorful, offering a variety of options to suit different preferences.

The third dish, "New Orleans Chicken," consists of four pieces. The taste is good and delicious, but compared to the price of 69 baht per dish, I think it's a bit expensive. There should be at least five pieces.

Next up is the Veggie Mix smoothie, which is the shop's recommendation. The key ingredients are homegrown salad vegetables blended with lemon, salt, and a special syrup. This drink is absolutely delicious! It's a vegetable juice that's easy to drink and you can keep drinking it. It's as delicious as the shop recommends.

We have finished the savory dishes with my wife. Next, we are looking at the desserts from the neighboring shop called Milky Mill. We can order and eat them here, but we need to pay separately. The dessert menu includes bingsu, ice cream, waffles, and milk-based drinks. The latter is claimed to be made with 100% fresh milk.

Note: This restaurant's bingsu advertisement cleverly entices customers with the slogan "Delightful with every bite... Every menu item is photogenic."

My wife and I ordered a "Melon + Strawberry Bingsu" for 269 baht. We waited for about 10 minutes before the staff brought it to our table. However, it was already getting dark, so I wasn't able to take very good pictures.

This bingsu cup is quite large. The melon is delicious and sweet. The strawberries are fresh, and there is a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. The ice cream tastes good. Overall, the taste of this dish is delicious and passes the test. The large portion size is perfect for sharing with a partner or friend.

Overall Impression of the Restaurant

The overall dining experience was quite impressive, particularly the dishes featuring fresh, high-quality vegetables. The standout item was the Veggie Mix smoothie, which offered a truly delicious and refreshing blend of vegetables.

Food Variety:

The restaurant offers a moderate variety of dishes, with a focus on salads, steaks, and soups. These options are generally considered healthy and unlikely to cause weight gain. Within each category, there is a good selection of choices, making it a suitable option for large families.

Restaurant Review Translation

Cleanliness: The restaurant was clean and well-maintained.

Service: My experience with the service was mixed. Some staff members were very friendly and attentive, while others seemed less enthusiastic. One server even questioned whether I had moved tables myself, rather than admitting to serving the wrong dish.

Accessibility: The restaurant's location is best suited for those with personal vehicles, as public transportation options are limited. However, there is ample parking available.

Value for Money: Many menu items offered good value for money, particularly the pork chop, salad, and smoothies. These dishes provided a good balance of taste, quality, and portion size. The New Orleans chicken, while delicious, was slightly overpriced in my opinion. It's worth noting that my assessment of value considers the restaurant's location. Given its setting, I believe some prices could be lowered by 10-20 baht for optimal value.

Overall: If you enjoy healthy food and live near Suan Pak, Taling Pling, or Ratchaphruek, this restaurant is worth a visit. It's suitable for groups of friends, couples, and families with children or elderly members, as the menu caters to various preferences. The restaurant offers air-conditioned seating and a small playground for children. Additionally, those who enjoy bingsu or milk-based beverages will appreciate this establishment, as bingsu options are limited in the area.

This concludes my review. I apologize for any omissions or inaccuracies, and remember that this review reflects my personal experience on the day of my visit. Your experience may differ. If you enjoyed my review, please follow me or leave feedback here: https://www.facebook.com/amazingcouples
