After reading reviews about the blooming of the siam tulip fields at Khao Yai National Park, I informed my wife that the flowers were in full bloom this year and looked stunning. My wife had never been there before, and we had planned to visit for several years, but our trips were always canceled due to unforeseen circumstances. This year, we decided to make the trip. We left on Friday evening and arrived at the park early Saturday morning. The drive was long and tiring, so we didn't invite anyone else to join us. After setting the GPS, eating dinner, and taking a shower, we were ready to hit the road. We drove from Rayong to Nong Bua Rawe District, Chaiyaphum Province, where Khao Yai National Park is located.

This trip was a quick round trip due to commitments at home. Let's call it a "lightning-fast" trip. 😜
We arrived at the National Park before dawn. At 3:30 am, we slept in the car in front of the toll booth. The entrance fee is 110 baht for 2 people and 1 car, which goes towards park maintenance. At 5:30 am, the checkpoint opened, and we drove to the tourist service center. Since we were in a sedan, we had to use the park's shuttle service to reach the Tung Bua Daeng field. The round-trip fare was 60 baht per person. Visitors with SUVs or 4WD vehicles are permitted to drive up themselves. The park offers camping facilities with restrooms.
We rely on the services of the park to distribute income. After washing our faces and brushing our teeth, we prepare to go up to the time when the fog is low. Why choose this time? Because during this time, the rows of forests alternating with fog and fields of ginger lilies will be a refreshing and beautiful view suitable for photography. The ginger lilies still look fresh.
The journey to the wildflower fields takes approximately 15 minutes by car. There are five fields in total, but the most stunning one currently is Thung Bua Sawan 1, located furthest in. The 2.5-kilometer walk is a leisurely stroll, accompanied by the sounds of birds and trees. The path passes by Pha Ham Hot, a rock formation that juts out precariously. We opted not to venture out onto the ledge, as it appeared quite daunting. Instead, I present to you the flowers through the lens of a travel photographer. The images have been minimally adjusted in Lightroom and Photoshop, with no retouching. Enjoy the extended photo gallery.
The flowers are currently in full bloom and will remain so until mid-August, making it an ideal time for tourists to visit.
The Thung Dok Krachiao at Thap Lan National Park may be difficult to access, but it offers a truly immersive natural experience. Visitors are advised to bring water, especially older individuals, as the walk can be lengthy. Despite the distance, the stunning natural beauty is well worth the effort.
